Let's get this out of the way, immediately.
We don't want to scare anyone, but the honest truth is that, when you bring together a significant cross-section of society,
you will get one or two "undesireables."
The *good* news in this, is that within the convention community, there is a certain feeling of family. We have watched
complete strangers come to the aid of someone in trouble, simply because they are a member of fandom. We like this, we
encourge this.
Will discuss this in more detail, later in this page.
Plan your convention
|
When you first look at a convention
schedule, everything looks good. But, you need to remember to allow yourself time to move between events, time to eat,
time to sleep, time to socialize...
The mind will cooperate only so long.

Kilts have become very popular for
daily wear, especially on the convention circuits. They are unique enough to get noticed, indiviual enough to be stylish,
and... well, the ladies love them. However, there are some issues to be addressed, mostly in etiquette.
The biggest issue is undergarments, or lack there-of. If you are going to go "Regimental," then you need to be ready for
anything from a stiff breeze crossing the parking lot up to a lady with a leaf blower. (*wink, wink, nudge, nudge*)
And ladies, while us gents don't mind you wanting to find out the answer to "the question," please ask first, and take the
answer session to a more private location.

First and foremost, if you are not of legal
drinking age (all U.S. states say 21), then DON'T!
If you are of legal age, and choose to partake, please be responsible. No one really wants to see you stumbling
around the halls, puking in the bushes by the pool, or starting fights with the guy who told your girl that her costume looked
nice. Be a world-class ass at home, not at con.

Time to grow up kids (yes, I heard you
snicker from all the way over here). Yes, most conventions have a more "adult oriented" track. Even the anime conventions
usually have at least one panel on hentai. We all went through Sex Ed in middle school (well, most of us, anyway). That
doesn't mean you get to watch the naughty stuff. Most adult panels are marked at "18+" in the convention program. Please
don't try to sneak in. It makes life a pain for security, and for the convnetion, if your parents decide to complain.
Parents, this is where we're going to put you on the hook for your kids. The people running mature content panels do try to
watch who comes in, and they turn away anyone who is underage. Raise your kids right, and they won't try to sneak into the
grown up events. If they do sneak in, don't blame the convention, blame your brat.
