Q: Can parents go to these conventions?
A: Of course! Whether you just want to know what your kids are into (which we encourage), or you're
a die-hard fan yourself, conventions are a great way to spend time with your kids.
Q: Is my child on drugs?
A: Not as far as we know. Some people love soap operas, some love police dramas. Your child happens
to like cartoons.
Q: Is my child into devil worship?
A: Again, not as far as we know. While stories of demons and devils are common in anime and fantasy,
they are by no means a defining factor, nor do most features promote any particular religious viewpoint, demonic
or otherwise.
Q: Can the convention be held responsible for any problems? (the "babysitter perspective")
A: This is a yes *and* no. While the convention and host facilities are responsible for basic safety
(making sure no one dies in a massive fire), they are not responsible for your child's conduct. If your
kid sneaks in alcohol and gets wasted, it's on the kid, not the con.
Q: I saw the CSI episode with the "furry" convention. Is that really what goes on with those people?
A: Again, this is a yes/no situation. Are their conventions that are of a more "adult" nature, yes.
Do these cons let kids in, of course not. Your basic Anime or SciFi convention may have a late-night 21+ panel,
but the folks who run these events are serious and will screen badges as people come in. .
Q: Don't Raves involve drugs?
A: The old warehouse raves of the early 1990s were notorious for allowing folks to bring drugs in (esp. Extasy).
However, since dances/raves at conventions fall under the responsibility of the convention, they do everything they
can to keep the night clean.
